How to make Southern Hamburger Steaks with Onion Mushroom Gravy

Hamburger patties ingredients:

  • A large egg
  • 50 gr breadcrumbs
  • Six slices of bacon (cooked and chopped)
  • A teaspoon of seasoned salt
  • 45 ml olive oil
  • 450 gr ground beef
  • A large onion, cut into cubes
  • A teaspoon of garlic powder
  • A half teaspoons fresh black pepper
  • 200 gr flour (all purpose)

Onion Mushroom Gravy ingredients:

  • A large onion, finely chopped
  • 200 ml of beef broth
  • 200 ml of water
  • 50 gr of flour (all purpose)
  • A quarter teaspoon of seasoning salt
  • A quarter teaspoon of black pepper
  • A half tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
  • A Tablespoon of orange top Gravy master
  • 400 gr of sliced mushrooms


1First of all, prepare a large bowl to combine the hamburger patties ingredients in it, such as the egg, bread crumbs, bacon, salt, ground beef, onions, garlic powder and black pepper. Here, you don’t need to combine the flour and olive oil. Simply mix those ingredients well until they are completely combined.

2Next, you can shape the mixture into several patties with the same size. With the mixture that you have made before, you can make around 4 to 6 patties. Then, prepare a plate and fill with the flour. Dip the patty in the plate of flour. Make sure both sides of the patties are evenly coated.

3Then, it is time to fry. You need you prepare a large (semi-deep) skillet and heat with olive oil on it over medium heat. When it is hot enough, you may place the patties one by one and make sure they are not overlapped. Cook the patties until they turn brown on both sides.
