How to Make Apple Crisp

The steps are easy to follow, and you do not need any professional tool to make this sweet treat. Just preheat your oven up to 350 degrees F and also butter your baking dish for the beginning. Then you are ready to mix the delicious apple crisp.


  • 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar
  • 1 cup of light brown sugar
  • ¾ cup of all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup of chilled unsalted butter, diced it
  • ¾ cup of old-fashioned oats
  • 1 ¾ teaspoon of ground cinnamon, divided into two batch, one teaspoon and ¾ teaspoon
  • A pinch of kosher salt
  • 1 ½ teaspoon of lemon juice
  • 6 apples, peeled and chopped (you can use any varieties of apple and it can be sliced rather than chopped)


1Put the chopped or sliced apples into a mixing bowl, then add ¾ teaspoon of cinnamon, lemon juice, and granulated sugar. Then stir them well until they are combined. After that, you can transfer them to the prepared baking dish. Spread it evenly, so you can get a rather even surface for the toppings.

2Let’s make the topping. Mix the oats, flour, brown sugar, one teaspoon of cinnamon, diced cold butter, and salt in another mixing bowl. If you find it is difficult to mix them, you can use a pastry cutter and do slight downward twisting motion until you get nice crumbs. If you want, you also can mix it with forks or your hands.

3Spread the toppings on the apple mixture in a baking dish and gently make it even. Put in the oven for 40-50 minutes until you get golden brown colour and bubble. You can serve it while it is still warm or you can also chill it out if you want a cool dessert.
