Tzatziki sauce originally comes from Greece with the similar recipe of its nearby country’s sauce which is usually called as the Turkish cacık. This sauce is very recommended for those who love healthy food since it contains many nutritional value, such as calcium, fat, sodium, protein, and other vitamins and minerals. The main ingredients used here are yogurt, cucumber, and garlic. Then, you may add other herbs to get a richer flavor, like pepper, dill, mint, lemon juice, vinegar, oil, etc.  Make your tzatziki sauce based on the recipe below.

How to make Tzatziki Sauce

To make this Greek sauce, you just need for around 25 minutes and don’t forget to strain the cucumber from the water remains in it. Also, after making this salad, you will get a white or light mint green color depends on the amount of cucumber that you add. Make sure that you serve this in the cold so that it will taste much better.  Now, follow the instructions below from the beginning until the end.

Ingredients:

  • 400 ml of plain Greek yogurt
  • 100 ml of sour cream
  • A small English cucumber, you may peel this first or not, it is optional and then grates it.
  • Two cloves of minced garlic
  • A half of lemon, juiced
  • A teaspoon of olive oil
  • A teaspoon of dill, freshly chopped
  • Salt and black pepper as the seasonings

Directions:

1Prepare a colander and put the grated cucumbers in it along with the salt. Give a sit for about 15 minutes. Then, you can squeeze the cucumbers to produce the juices so that you can use the cucumbers to mix with other ingredients. After this, you may set the cucumbers aside for a while.

2In a large bowl, put the plain yogurt, sour cream, and the olive oil. Whisk these ingredients, and next put the cucumbers, lemon juice, garlic and dill altogether to the yogurt mixture. Then, combine this mixture until they are completely mixed.

3Before serving this sauce, you need to add salt and pepper as the seasoning. If you have all-purpose Greek seasoning in your kitchen, then you may add this for a more Greek taste in your salad instead of using the salt and pepper. Add also with fresh dill to make your sauce look perfect.
