How to make Slow-Cooked Brisket and Onions
Now, prepare the ingredients and follow the instructions below until the very end.
- A tablespoon of olive oil
- 625 gr of onions (yellow or red), cut into half-moon slices
- Three and a half pounds of beef brisket
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Six cloves of minced garlic
- 400 ml of beef broth
- 30 gr Worcestershire sauce
- A tablespoon of soy sauce
1First, you need to prepare a deep sauté pan, or you may also use a cast iron skillet. Then add the olive oil on top of the pan or skillet over medium heat. When the oil is hot enough, you can continue to add other ingredients to it to cook for several minutes.
2Here, the ingredients are the sliced onions, stir and cook the onions for 20 minutes over medium-low or medium heat and make sure that the onions get slightly caramelized. While you are waiting for the onions, you can prepare for other ingredients like the beef brisket.
3For the brisket, you need to take it out of the package and dry it well. Then, don’t forget to season the brisket with salt and pepper and make sure all parts are evenly covered with the seasoning. Then, reheat the skillet or pan over medium high heat to sear the brisket.
4When cooking the brisket, you may use a vent or fan to help the process. Make sure the brisket turns into golden brown on both sides. After this, you can prepare the slow cooker insert and place the brisket in it. Also, remember to place the fatty side up.
5Now, you just need to place the remaining ingredients into the slow cooker, like the garlic, onions, broth, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce. Then, cover the slow cooker and cook over low heat for around 6 to 8 hours until you can get the brisket very tender.
6After the meat and other ingredients are thoroughly cooked and tender, you may start to serve this dish. But before that, make sure you let the dish rest for around 20 minutes in the slow cooker by turning the setting into warm mode. Enjoy immediately!
Now, you can prepare the platters and transfer the dish to each platter. Moreover, you can also refrigerate the dish and reheat for the next morning by placing it into a baking dish in a heated oven.
