  • 200 gr pea shoots, or you may use the pea tendrils
  • A large lemon, zested
  • 50 ml lemon juice
  • 65 ml extra virgin olive oil
  • 200 gr parmesan cheese, grated. Here, you may prepare some more grated cheese as the garnish
  • Ground black pepper and salt to taste
  • 225 gr spaghetti
  • 100 ml of pasta reserved water


1First, if you use the long pea shoots, then you need to chop them. Simply cut the pea shoots into halves or even make it into three pieces. Thus, you can manage the small pieces of pea shoots easier rather than if you don’t cut them. After the pea shoots are done, you can set them aside.

2Then, prepare a large bowl to mix other ingredients in it, like lemon zest, olive oil, lemon juice, ground pepper and grated parmesan. You may combine these ingredients while you are cooking the spaghetti in a boiled water that has been added with salt.

3After the spaghetti is done, you may reserve around 100 ml of the pasta water which is the same with a half of a cup. Also, don’t forget to drain the spaghetti after you rinse it up. Next, you may immediately place the drained spaghetti into the large mixing bowl.

4When the spaghetti is already in, you also may add another ingredient into it, like the reserved pasta water. Here, if you combine the reserved water into the mixture, the heat of the water can warm the pasta as well as the sauce mixture. Also, it can make the grated parmesan cheese becomes melted.

5To continue, don’t forget to add the pea shoots and combine these ingredients well until the parmesan gets melted. Also, make sure that the texture of the sauce becomes smooth, and the pea shoots get slightly softened. Next, it is time to garnish and serve.
