How to Make Bourbon-Glazed Lemon Salmon
Just make sure not to overcook the salmon so you don’t burn the skin. If you don’t like the smell of salmon, add some aromatic herb like rosemary, parsley, or cilantro on the ingredients.
- 4 pieces of salmon fillet
- 2 lemons
- Olive oil
- Black pepper
- Kosher salt
- 1 clove of garlic, grate
- 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
- ½ cup of brown sugar
¼ cup of bourbon
1Pat the salmon fillet with paper towel until dry. Season generously with pepper and salt. Set aside. Take one of the lemons and cut it into fine slices, and set aside. Get the juice of the other lemon and get the zest. Preheat the oven to 450°F. Take a small sauce pan, add in together the lemon juice and zest, garlic, brown sugar, soy sauce, and bourbon. Whisk to combine them all well.
2Cook the mixture over medium heat, and wait until it gets thicker. It should take around five to ten minutes. When it gets thick and almost bubbly, remove from heat. Close the sauce pan with a lid to keep it warm and set aside.
3Prepare a large sized of cast iron skillet. Put it over medium high heat, and add one tablespoon of the olive oil. Wait until the oil is hot, but don’t wait until it gets smokey. Add the salmon fillet with skin side down, and add lemon slice over the top side. Cook for around two minutes until the skin is seared.
4Next, transfer the skillet into the oven and bake the salmon. Bake for around ten minutes or until the skin is rather crisp and the meat is tender and cooked through. Take it out, and transfer it into your serving plate. Check on your bourbon mixture. If it is cold already, reheat it over low heat before using. Next, using soft baking brush, swipe the bourbon mixture over the salmon. Serve with lemon wedges or slices as garnish, and your favorite vegetable for side dish.
